Chitrax, Kausha top seeds as big names return to action for Gandhidham TT meet
Gandhidham June, 28 : Ahmedabad paddlers Chitrax Bhatt and Kausha Bhairapure get top seeds in the Men’s and Women’s categories respectively at the IndianOil 3rd Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2023 organised by Kachchh District Table Tennis Association (KDTTA) under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association from June 29 to July 2 at the Late Shri M.P.Mittra Indoor Stadium, Haresh Sangtani Sports Complex in Gandhidham.
The tournament has a total number of 471 entries and Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce is the co-sponsor, Friends Group is the associate sponsor while Stiga is the equipment sponsor of the tourney.
Even though named as top seeds, both Chitrax and Kausha will have to deal with stiff competition before they can emerge winners of the meet.
In men’s category, Chitrax will have to counter a strong challenger in 2nd State Ranking winner Burhanuddin Malubhaiwala.
In women’s section, top seed Kausha will have to work her way through a tough draw as big names-current women’s No. 1 Frenaz Chipia, Oishiki Joardar and winner of 1st State Ranking Radhapriya Goel-return to action after missing the last tournament.
Manish Hingorani, Organizing Secretary, said that the return of big names of state TT will add spice to the tournament. “There will be stiffer competition in the 3rd State Ranking as top paddlers make a comeback,” he said.
Tulsi Sujan, President, KDTTA, informed that matches will be live-streamed on YouTube. “KDTTA will be put technology to use and provide live coverage for TT lovers,” she said.
