Burhanuddin, Kausha win top honours
Bharuch, June 18: Twelfth seed Burhanuddin Malubhaiwala of Surat thumped sixth seed Arman Shaikh of Aravalli 4-0 to bag his maiden men’s title at the GNFC 2nd State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament which concluded in Bharuch on Sunday. The tournament was organised by the Bharuch District Table Tennis Association (BDTTA) in support with S&R Club, GNFC under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association (GSTTA).
Earlier, Burhanuddin had created a huge flutter when he upset the top-seed Chitrax Bhatt of Ahmedabad in their semifinal face-off.
Whereas, in the Junior Boys (U-19) 2nd Seed Armaan Shaikh of Aravalli defeated Top Seed Burhanuddin Malubhaiwala of Surat in a marathon seven games 4-3.
In the women’s final, Ahmedabad’s second seed Kausha Bhairapure romped past fourth seed Riya Jaiswal of Bhavnagar 4-1 to capture the women’s crown.
Under-15 boys’ final saw the unseeded Malav Panchal of Ahmedabad come back from a game down to pip fourth seed and his city-mate Arya Kataria to walk away with the title. Arya, however, turned his fortune around in the U-17 boys final as he defeated fourth seed Himansh Dahiya.
Top seed Jenil Patel downed Ansh Khamar to win the U-13 boys title while Daniya Godil won the U-13 girls title.
Top seeds Ansh Khamar and Vincy Tanna emerged champions in the U-13 boys and girls categories respectively.
