Surat, June 8: The final day of the 1st Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2022, organised by Surat District Table Tennis Association (SDTTA) under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association held at the Tapti Valley International School, Surat, concluded on a good note with all the challenging, ambitious and stiff competition in quarterfinals, semi-finals, and the finale matches.
In the Women’s Singles, Surat-mates Filzah Kadri and Frenaz Chipia reached finals to battle each other. Frenaz defeats Filzah in a long battle to become the women’s Champion, 4-2 (11-4, 5-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-6).
Top seed Chitrax Bhatt of Ahmedabad won the Men’s title in Men’s Single by ending the fine run of fourteen seeded Karanpal Jadeja of Bhavnagar, 4-1 (11-8, 11-9, 6-11, 11-3, 11-8). And Dhairya Parmar of Ahmedabad settled for the 3rd place defeating Shlok Bajaj of Surat in a hard fought battle 3-2 (11-6, 11-7, 7-11, 5-11, 13-11).
While Shlok Bajaj and Burhanuddin Malubhaiwala put up a show yet again in the Junior (U-19) Boys Singles finals, and Burhanuddin kept up his title by 4-2 (1-11, 11-6, 4-11, 13-11, 11-3, 11-9) while shlok settling for 2nd place.
In the Junior (U-19) Girls Singles, Surat’s very own and the 5th seed Arnee Parmar defeated the 7th seed Riya Jayswal of Bhavnagar to become the winner of the category, 4-2 (11-9, 6-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-5, 12-10).
In the Junior Boys (U-17) Finals, 2nd Seed Armaan Shaikh proved to his worth and won the title defeating the local lad and 5th Seed Aayush Tanna, 4-1 (11-8, 11-6, 11-6, 8-11, 11-6).
The local girl, Daniya Godil won the Hope (U-11) Girls Title beating Khwaish Lotia (Ahmedabad) in the Finals, 4-0 (11-9, 11-4, 11-7, 11-4).
Pratha Pawar made a double when she won in the Junior Girls Singles (U-17) and Sub – Junior Girls (U-15) Singles title by defeating Riya Jayswal of Bhavnagar 4-2 (10-12, 11-7, 12-10, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9) and and edging out Mouboni Chatterjee of Ahmedabad, 4-2 (11-5, 11-4, 9-11, 11-5, 12-14, 11-7) respectively.
In the Sub-Junior (U-15) Boys Singles, 4th seed Janmejay Patel of Aravalli settled for second place after giving a tough competition to 2nd seed Aayush Tanna of Surat who won the title, 4-3 (7-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 4-11, 11-7, 11-8).
