Triple crown for Prasunna at state Masters meet
Gandhidham 12, February: Star local paddler Prasunna Parekh came up with a stellar show as she walked away with triple titles at the recently concluded Gopal Namkeen 2nd Gujarat State Masters Table Tennis Tournament organised by Table Tennis Association of Ahmedabad under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association and Gujarat State Veterans Table Tennis Committee at the Spinters Club in Ahmedabad. The event was co-sponsored by BMCB Bank while the equipment support was by Stiga.
The top seed and current national champion Parekh decimated Vadodara’s Shital Shah 3-0 to win the women’s 39+ final. She then joined forces with Rajkot’s Gaurav Doshi and got the better of the pair of Amish Patel and Shital 3-1 to lay their hands on the 39+ mixed doubles’ title.
Later, Parekh and Shital teamed up and thumped Divya Pandya and Sonal Joshi 3-0 to claim the 39+ women’s doubles title.
There was some joy in stored for Bhavnagar’s Sonal as she claimed the women’s 49+ crown after she beat Neha Patel of Ahmedabad 3-1.
Third seed Mihir Vyas of Ahmedabad continued with his good form and crushed second seed Bhinnang Kothari of Vadodara 3-0 to pocket the men’s 39+ title.
Seventh seed Hiral Mehta of Ahmedabad took home the men’s 49+ title after he triumphed over Rajkot’s Sikandar Jam 3-1.
