Regulations for Ranking & Seeding Rules 2024

- The GSTTA will announce classification ranking for the purpose of seeding after the conclusion of each Tournaments/Championships.
- The Ranking List announced for the year 2023 will be considered for seeding purpose for the First Tournament of the year 2024. For 2nd Tournament, the points of the State Championship 2023 and the points of the First Tournament of the year 2024 will be considered for the seeding purpose. from the 3rd to the 5th tournament only the points of the tournaments of 2024 will be considered. However, from the 6th tournament onwards the points of best 4 Tournaments of 2024 will be considered for Seeding purpose.
- The GSTTA shall maintain through its Technical Committee, a record of the age and date of birth for the all Categories.

- Ranking list will be based on the performance of players during the year under the norms prescribed below: Points of Best 4 tournaments plus the points of State Championships shall determine the ranking of a player during the year. This is subject to deduction of any penalty imposed.
- METHOD OF PLAY: In the State & Inter District Championships and State Ranking Tournaments the following method of play will be adopted.
- The matches will be played in two stages i.e. Stage-I – Round Robin and Stage-II – Knock Out. This is only applicable if the number of entries in a particular event is more than 32. If not, then there will be Knock Out stage only.
- The winner will occupy First Position and the Runner-up Second Position.
- Position matches will be played only to determine the 3rd and 4th place.
- All the matches of State Ranking Tournaments and State Championships will be played as per the norms set by Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).
- SYSTEM FOR AWARDING POINTS FOR RANKING: For Men, Women, Junior (Under-19) Boys & Girls, Junior (Under-17) Boys & Girls, Sub-Junior (Under-15) Boys & Girls, Cadet (Under-13) Boys & Girls and Hopes (Under-11) Boys & Girls events of State Ranking and State & Inter District Championships (individual events) the points will be awarded as per the following table:

- Eligibility criteria for participation of Under-19, Under-17, Under-15, Under-13 and Under-11 boys and girls in all the major events of the State:
- The Junior (Under-19) Boys and Girls events shall be open to only those players, who are born on or after 01.01.2006.
- The Junior (Under-17) Boys and Girls events shall be open to only those players, who are born on or after 01.01.2008.
- The Sub-Junior (Under-15) Boys and Girls events shall be open to only those players, who are born on or after 01.01.2010.
- The Cadet (Under-13) Boys and Girls events shall be open to only those players, who are born on or after 01.01.2012.
- The Hopes (Under-11) Boys and Girls events shall be open to only those players, who are born on or after 01.01.2014.
- The Age Certificate to be produced by a player as per the GSTTA Guidelines for submission of Date of Birth Certificate.
- PENALTY:
- Any player who gives a walkover without any valid reason in any State Ranking Tournaments / State & Inter District Championships will be awarded a penalty of minus 10 points which will be deducted from his/her accumulated ranking points.
- If he/she is a regular defaulter, apart from docking points as a penalty, he/she may attract any other punishment as decided by the competent authority.
- An entry once given can be withdrawn by the player or his/her representative before the last date of withdrawal as per prospectus issued from time to time.
- Penalty points however, can be withdrawn in case of a genuine reason provided with sufficient evidence to the competent authority.
- SEEDING RULES:
- The Ranking List announced for the previous year will be considered for seeding purpose for the First Tournament of the current year. For 2nd Tournament, the points of the State championship of previous year and the points of the First Tournament of current year will be considered for the seeding purpose. For the remaining Tournaments of current year, the points of every Tournament will be added for Seeding purpose. from the 3rd to the 5th tournament only the points of the tournaments of 2024 will be considered. However, from the 6th tournament onwards the points of best 4 Tournaments of 2024 will be considered for Seeding purpose.
- National Ranking will also be considered in special cases.
- Seeding will be announced at the tournament venue through Open Draw (for Top-12 ranked players in Seniors and for Top-8 ranked players in all other categories) system for all State Tournaments.
- In case of a tie, then Technical Committee may decide by lots.
- The seeding by ranking will be in accordance with the regulations of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) are as under:
- The first ranked player or pair shall be placed at the top of the first half of the draw and second ranked player or pair at the bottom of the second half but all other seeded players or pairs shall be drawn by lot among specific places in the draw as follows.
- The third and fourth ranked players or pairs shall be drawn between the bottom of the first half of the draw and the top of the second half.
- The fifth to eighth ranked players or pairs shall be drawn among the bottom places of the odd numbered quarters of the draw and top places of the even numbered Quarters.
- The ninth to sixteenth ranked players or pairs shall be drawn among the bottom places of the odd numbered eighths of the draw and the top places of the even numbered eighths.
- The draw shall Inter-alia be conducted on the basis of entries by Association nominations as per TTFI rules.
- The regulations for alteration to the draw will be inter-alia be according to the TTFI Regulations as adopted by GSTTA.
- These regulations shall be read in conjunction with the rules for the State Ranking Tournaments.
- On regulations not covered above, the decision of the Executive Committee of the GSTTA shall be final and binding on to the all.
