Prestigious state TT championships begins in Gandhidham today
Gandhidham 22, September: The most prestigious tournament of season- Jodac Gujarat State and Inter-District Table Tennis Championships 2024, organised by Gujarat State Table Tennis Association (GSTTA)-kicks off at the Late MP Mittra Indoor Stadium, Haresh Sangtani Sports Complex, Adipur in Gandhidham on Monday.
The tournament which carries maximum points in the state TT calendar is sponsored by Jodac Shipping Line Pvt. Ltd, co-sponsored by State Bank of India, associate sponsored by Kiran Foundation and Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce & Industries.
As many as nine Stiga tables will be used to accommodate 520 entries for the five-day championship which is supported by Sports Authority of Gujarat and Kutch District Table Tennis Association.
Apart from individual events, the tournament will also host the Team Championships in six events (men’s, women’s, U-19 boys & girls, U-15 boys & girls) where 12 teams from all across the state will vie for the trophy.
All the top players like Krittwika Sinha Roy, Frenaz Chipia, Jaynil Mehta, Filzah Kadri, Chitrax Bhatt and Radhapriya Goel will play in the team championships
“Since is the most important tournament of the season, GSTTA has appointed a team of 25 technical officials to officiate in the tournament,” secretary, GSTTA, shri Hari Pillai said.
“GSTTA president shri Pramod Chaudhary has come up with the idea of conducting U-9 boys and girls’ events without any entry fees to encourage young players to take up TT,” shri Pillai added.
