Oishiki grabs women’s title, Rajkot boy Dev wins u-13 title

Rajkot, June 8: Young and rising paddler Oishiki Joardar won the battle of nerves in her scintillating 4-3 victory over Radhapriya Goel to pocket the Women’s title at the Second Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2024 organised by the Rajkot District Table Tennis Association (RDTTA) under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association at SNK School in Rajkot here on Saturday.

The 18-year-old Ahmedabad girl Oishiki erased a two-game deficit at the start of the final to push her opponent Radhapriya to the wall and levelled the match at 2-2. Despite losing the 5th game, Oishiki kept her composure and won the next two to take home the crown.

Top seed Riya Jayswal of Bhavnagar also registered a come-from-behind 4-2 win over unseeded Partha Pawar in a closely-fought girls U-19 final.

Ahmedabad’s Pratha, however, put the U-19 final loss behind her and toppled the top seed and her citymate Nidhi Prajapati 3-0 to take home the girls U-17 title.

Rajkot-lad and eight seed Dev Bhatt flourished on home turf as he decimated the second seed Anay Bachawat of Surat 3-0 to win the cadet boys (U-13) title in style. Top seed Daniya Godil of Surat cleaned up second seed Amdavadi girl Khwaish Lotia 3-0 to capture the girls U-13 title.

The Sub-Junior Boys (U-15) title went to top seed Malav Panchal of Ahmedabad after he defeated second seed Ved Panchal of Vadodara 3-1.

U-15 Girls’ top seed Jiya Trivedi Ahmedabad fought hard to overcome second seed Charmy Trivedi of Bhavnagar in the summit clash.

Top seed Dhruv Bhambani of Kachchh emerged victorious in the U- 11 boys category after beating Henil Langalia of Bhavnagar in the final while Ahmedabad’s Misha Lakhani, second seed, won the girls U-11 title.
