Strap: National Games’ defending singles TT champion Harmeet Desai to miss Goa edition
Gandhidham 28, October : Gujarat’s top paddlers Chitrax Bhatt, Soham Bhattacharya, Frenaz Chipia and Filzah Fatema Kadri will don the Gujarat tee at the upcoming 37th National Games to be held at Panji, Goa from October 29 to November 2.
Ahmedabad-boys Chitrax and Soham will join hands for the men’s doubles event while Surat pairing of Frenaz and Filzah Fatema will stake their claims in the women’s doubles event.
36th National Games’ singles champion and Surat-boy Harmeet Desai will not defend his title as he is set to miss the Games due to his prior international commitments.
Gujarat’s other top paddlers Manav Thakkar (Surat) Manush Shah (Vadodara), who were also eligible for the Games, will also give the Games a miss for similar reasons.
Gujarat State Table Tennis Association president, Shri Pramod Chaudhary extended his best regards to the participating paddlers. “Gujarat is now a powerhouse in India’s table tennis thanks to Harmeet, Manav and Manush. It’s unfortunate that they will not participate in the Goa edition. However, in their absence, it’s a wonderful opportunity for other paddlers to come up with the goods,” Shri Chaudhary said.
