Unseeded Dhyey shows 3rd seed Armaan the door
Gandhidham: Unseeded Dhyey Jani of Bhavnagar came up with a stupendous display of table tennis as he showed third seed Armaan Shaikh the door in their men’s opening round clash of the Indian Oil 3rd Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2023 organised by Kachchh District Table Tennis Association (KDTTA) under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association from June 29 to July 2 at the Late Shri M.P Mittra Indoor Stadium, Haresh Sangtani Sports Complex in Gandhidham.
The Bhavnagar boy sealed the deal in three straight games to make it into the second round of the men’s draw.
Seed no. 9 Harshil Kothari of Bhavnagar too was taken out in the first round by Janmejay Patel of Aravali. Gujarat table tennis’ old war-horse and unseeded Jignesh Jayswal (Bhavnagar), however, secured his second-round berth after a hard-fought come-from-behind victory over 15th seed Abhilash Raval of Ahmedabad.
