Radhapriya wins women’s title on Gujarat debut, Chitrax get men’s crown

Rajkot, June 02, : India-ranked no. 19 Radhapriya Goel, who recently moved to Gujarat from Uttar Pradesh, lived up to her billing. On her Gujarat debut, she came back from a game down to win the women’s title when she defeated Namna Jayswal of Bhavnagar 4-1 in the final of women’s category of the 1st Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2023 organised by the Rajkot District Table Tennis Association, under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association, at SAG Multipurpose Indoor Hall in Rajkot on Friday.

The tournament is sponsored by Western Railway Mazdoor Sangh and supported by Sports Authority of Gujarat (SAG).

Top seed Chitrax Bhatt had to dig in deep to beat his city-mate and second seed Soham Bhattacharya 4-3 to win the men’s title.

Oishiki Joardar was another debutant who shone in her maiden tournament. The West Bengal paddler, recently moved to Ahmedabad, easily went past fourth seed Mouboni Chatterjee to claim the junior girls (U-19) title.
