Arya, Sujal to clash for Boys U-15 title

Rajkot, May 31: Top seed Sujal Kukadia of Bhavnagar dispatched fourth seed Samarth Shekhawat of Surat in straight games to set up summit clash with seventh seed Arya Kataria in the Sub-junior boys (U-15) category of the 1st Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2023 organised by the Rajkot District Table Tennis Association, under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association, at SAG Multipurpose Indoor Hall in Rajkot on Wednesday.

The tournament is sponsored by Western Railway Mazdoor Sangh and supported by Sports Authority of Gujarat (SAG).

Ahmedabad’s Arya took out Yatharth Kedia of Surat in straight games.

However, the unseeded Yatharth put up a valiant show in the quarters where he upset sixth seed Vansh Modi of Vadodara 12-10,11-8,11-9.

Also, unseeded Vivaan Sinh Dharia of Surat took put eight seed Malav Panchal of Ahmedabad 11-4,11-8,9-11,11-9. Vivaan’s winning run ended in the quarters where he lost to top seed Sujal.

The cadet boys (U-13) final will be a thrilling contest as top see Jenil Patel of Ahmedabad take on city-mate and second seed Parv Vyas.

In the semi-finals, Jenil got the better of fourth seed Dwij Bhalodia of Ahmedabad while Parv came back after losing the opening game to beat third seed Palash Kothari of Vadodara.
