Hridan, Ansh and Daniya win qualifying ties to enter main draw
Vadodara, Jan.15: Three under-11 Gujarat paddlers-Hridan Patel, Ansh Khamar and Daniya Godil-won their qualifying rounds matches to enter in the main draw of the season-opener UTT National Ranking Table Tennis Championship which got underway on Sunday at SAMA Indoor Sports Complex in Vadodara.
In U-11 boys, Hridan topped Group 5 where he got the better of S Senthil Kumar (TN) and Krishiv (Har) while Ansh topped Group 24 after he defeated Abhigyan Dubey (Del) and K Bhargav (TN) to seal their main draw berths.
In U-11 girls, Daniya Godil finished atop Group 11 after she thrashed Ramaiya Sara (Maha B) and P Dhruthi (AP) to progress to Day 2 of the meet.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by P Swaroop (IAS), managing director, GACL. Sanjaya Bhatnagar, executive director, IOCL, Nawal Kishor Subarno, deputy general manager (HR) Gail, Lata B Gupta, chairperson, BRG Group, Krishna Pandya, DSDO, Sports Authority of Gujarat, Kamlesh Mehta, secretary, TTFI, Ashwin Gandhi, director, Express group, Sanjay Kumar Joshi, general manager (CC), ONGC, Kushal Sangtani, honorary secretary, Gujarat State TT Association were the other dignitaries present during the opening ceremony along with Jayaben Thakkar, organising chairperson and Kalpesh Thakkar, organising secretary of the tournament.

Some qualifying round results: Youth Girls (U-11): S Mohana (TN) bt Prisha Gokani (GUJ) 3-2 (6-11,3-11,13-11,14-12,11-7); Vincy Tanna (GUJ) Bt. Inaya (UP) 3-0 (11-2,11-6,11-4); Daniya Godil (GUJ) bt Ramaiya Sara (Maha B) 3-0 (11-7,11-7,11-7).
Youth Boys Singles (U-11): Suprovo Adhikari (Ben A) bt G Sunkara (TEL G) 3-1 (11-4,7-11,11-3,11-8); Anay Bachhawat (GUJ) bt Sankalp Bandivadekar (Maha B) 3-1 (9-11,11-5,11-7,11-9); Bishal Mandal (Ben B) bt Mayank Sadel (MP) 3-0 (12-10,11-8,11-8).
