Gandhidham, Sept.4 : The return of last year’s Gujarat no.1 Ishaan Hingorani will spice up things in the men’s section of the 4th State Ranking Table Tennis Championship 2022 organised by Valsad District TT Association, under the aegis of Gujarat State TT Association at the Nagar Palika Sports Complex in Valsad from September 5 to 8.
After bowing out in the quarterfinal of the 3rd State Ranking, men’s top seed Chitrax Bhatt from Ahmedabad eyes redemption but will have his task cut out as a formidable Ishaan, who has been practising in the USA for the last three months, returns to action for the first time this season.
Also, in red-hot form is second seed Shlok Bajaj of Surat, who captured the triple crown in the 3rd state rankings.
In the women’s draw, two Surat paddlers-top seed Frenaz Chipia, her old nemesis and second seed Filzah Kadri-are expected to lock horns one more time for the summit clash.
However, all eyes will be on Ahmedabad’s Pratha Pawar who is top seed in girls U-15, 17 and 19 categories. The 13-year-old is oozing confidence after she won her maiden medal in her debut international meet when she won bronze in the girls U-15 category of WTT Youth Contender held in Amman, Jordon on August 24.
A total of 535 entries have been received for the meet.
