Tapti Valley International School 4th Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2021 – Surat

SURAT, Nov. 14: Pratha Pawar will seek a hattrick of titles as Filzah Fatema Kadri and Chitrax Bhatt were in contention for two titles at the Tapti Valley International School 4th Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2021 that is being organised by the Surat District Table Tennis Association under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association at the Tapti Valley International School in Olpad, Surat.
Ahmedabad’s Pratha, who is making big waves in the post-pandemic season, will be in contention for the Junior Girls’ (U-17), Sub Junior Girls’ (U-15) and Cadet Girls’ (U-13) titles.
In the U-17 semis, second seed Pratha broke local hearts with 11-5, 11-5, 11-9, 11-13, 11-8 win over third seed Arnee Parmar of Surat.
Pratha will be up against a spirited fourth seed Mili Tanna of Surat who shocked top seed Nidhi Prajapati of Ahmedabad 11-7, 12-10, 11-7, 11-4.
In the U-15 semis, second seed Pratha defeated third seed Riya Jayswal of Bhavnagar 11-3, 11-9, 8-11, 6-11, 11-3, 11-5 to set up a final date with fourth seed Nidhi. Nidhi had shocked top seed Arnee 11-6, 13-11, 5-11, 11-7, 13-11 in the other semi-final.
Pratha set to maintain her dominance in the U-13 category where she beat teammate and fourth seed Jiya Trivedi 11-8, 11-6, 11-4 in the semis. She will now face another teammate and second seed Hiya Singh who beat Ahmedabad’s Moubini Chatterjee 11-5, 11-9, 11-5 in the other tie.
Filzah had a strenuous day with two tough semi-final wins.
In the Women’s semis, the second seed from Surat beat teammate and sixth seed Aafrein Murad 11-8, 8-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-7, 10-12, 11-7. But Filzah will have a tough final as she will be up against her formidable teammate and top seed Frenaz Chipia who edged out fourth seed Kausha Bhairapure of Ahmedabad 11-2, 11-6, 11-7, 12-10 in the second semi.
Filzah will be the favourite in the U-19 final despite her coming from behind win over fourth seed Kausha (6-11, 11-6, 8-11, 13-11, 14-12, 14-12). She will face third seed Aafrien who ended Pratha’s impressive run in the category with an 11-6, 11-6, 11-9, 11-13, 11-4 win.
Chitrax will be looking to win the Men’s title after his 11-8, 11-1, 11-8, 9-11, 11-1 win over unseeded Vidit Desai of Baroda. The second seed from Ahmedabad will be facing a rejuvenated fifth seed and teammate Dhairya Parmar who shone in the limelight with his 11-6, 11-5, 8-11, 11-5, 11-6 win over top seed Ishaan Hingorani of Kachchh.
In the U-19 semis, top seed Chitrax defeated fifth seed Arman Shaikh of Aravalli 11-8, 15-13, 11-5, 11-8. He will now face local boy and seventh seed Shlok Bajaj, who looked in sublime form in his 10-12, 11-6, 11-8, 11-6, 11-5 win over third seed Harshil Kothari of Bhavnagar.
