Manush Shah wins gold in ITTF Ecuador International Open

GANDHIDHAM, Oct 8: Manush Shah shone bright with three medals at the ITTF Ecuador International Open. The 20-year-old from Baroda won the men’s singles title while settling for a silver in the men’s doubles and picking up a bronze in the mixed doubles.
In the men’s singles final, sixth seed Manush ended Mexico’s Juan Jesus Gomez’s giant-killing run in the tournament with an 11-7, 11-9, 11-13, 11-7, 11-9 win for the title.
Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles, the top seed pair of Manush and Sanil Shetty suffered a fighting 7-11, 11-4, 11-3, 9-11, 8-11 loss against the fourth seed Mexican pair of Gomez and Dario Arce in the final.
In the mixed doubles semis, the pair of Manush and Ankita Das suffered a 7-11, 9-11, 11-9, 5-11 loss against the second-seeded Mexican pair of Arce and Clio Barcenas to settle for the third-place finish.
