State TT season kicks off from today in Bhavnagar
Gandhidham 03 JUNE : The much awaited, long and gruelling state table tennis season kicks off from Tuesday with the start of Mircosign 1st Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2025 to be organised by Bhavnagar District Table Tennis Association (BDTTA) under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association (GSTTA) at SAG Sports Complex, Sidsar Road, Bhavnagar from June 4 to 7. The tournament, which has Stiga as its equipment partner, has a total prize money of rs 2.55 lakhs.
A massive 745 entries have been recorded for the meet in which a total of 425 players from across the state will vie for top honours in the eight events ie. Men’s, women’s, U-19 boys & girls, U-17 boys & girls, U-15 boys & girls, U-13 boys & girls, U-11 boys and girls and U-9 boys & girls.
State’s top players like Frenaz Chipa, Filzahfatema Kadri, Radhapriya Goel, Chirax Bhatt and Pratham Madlani will be seen in action for the opening state ranking meet.
Gujarat’s key player Krittwika Sinha Roy will miss the tournament as she is on UTT duty.
However, India no. 5 in U-15, Vivaan Dave is making his comeback to Gujarat state rankings after spending four years in PSPB set up and will be the player to watch out for during the tourney.
Crucially, the U-9 category, which has been made mandatory in all state rankings, has received as many as 30 entries.
President, BDTTA, Shri Nisheeth Mehta said a record-breaking number of entries have been received for the tournament. “745 entries is huge and tells the spread of the sport in the state. All preparations are in place to host our state paddlers,” he said.
