Gujarat’s Krittwika & Yashaswini pocket doubles title at WTT Feeder in Italy
Gandhidham, Oct.29: Gujarat’s top paddler Krittwika Sinha Roy, along with her doubles partner Yashaswini Ghorpade flew India’s flag high in the Italian town of Cagliari after they pocketed the women’s doubles title at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Feeder Cagliari 2024 tournament held in Italy from October 22 to 27.
The second seeded Indian pair breezed past South Korea’s Yoo Siwoo and Kim Haeun 3-1 (11-9, 9-11, 14-12, 11-2) in the summit clash to emerge champions.
Earlier, Krittwika and Yashaswini took out the local girls Arianna Barani and Maria Picu 3-0 in the round of 16 and then went on to clean up the Japanese pairing of Sachi Aoki and Sakura Yokoi with the similar score line.
The second seeds were up against the formidable fourth seeded Sophia Klee and Franziska Schreiner of Spain in the semi-final where the Indians registered a facile 3-1 victory.
