GSTTA organises umpire seminar in Gandhidham
Gandhidham 22, September: With the aim to produce more international-level umpires from the state, the Gujarat State Table Tennis Association (GSTTA) organised an umpire seminar on September 21-22 at the Haresh Sangtani Sports Complex, Adipur, Gandhidham.
The seminar was conducted by Mangesh Mopkar, an international referee, a Blue Badge Umpire. Mopkar, a retired officer from Bank of India, Nagpur, had officiated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and he was nominated by the Table Tennis Federation of India to conduct this seminar.
He was assisted by Bhavnagar’s Deepak Sarvaiya, who is also an international umpire and a former Blue Badge umpire.
A total of 15 participants from all over the state, including the candidates for International Umpire Exam 2024 to be held in October conducted by International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), were present.
“This seminar will benefit state umpires who are preparing for the ITTF umpiring exam. It will help other regular umpires to officiate better at the state and national level tournaments by enhancing their technical knowledge,” said international umpire Mopkar.
