Manush goes to Bhayani Stars with highest bid of Rs 1.05 lakhs
Ahmedabad, July 6: India no. 3 and world ranked 150 Manush Shah, who registered his career-best win at WTT Star Contender Bangkok 2024 by defeating WR 13 Jang Woojin 3-1, attracted the highest bid of Rs 1.05 lakhs as he was grabbed by Bhayani Stars at the Gujarat Super League (GSL) Table Tennis season-2 auction which concluded at the Topspin Club in Ahmedabad on Friday.
GSL is initiated by Gujarat State Table Tennis Association (GSTTA) and its first season was held at Transstadia, Ahmedabad in August 2022 while GSL-2 will be organised in Surat this year.
Bhayani Stars also made a successful bid of Rs 89,000 to get Asian Games Medallist Sutirtha Mukherjee in their line-up while the current women’s national champion Poymantee Bisya was bought by Shyamal Squad for Rs 86,000. Experienced India paddler Krittwika Sinha Roy will don the Topnotch Achievers’ team jersey after she was sold for Rs 52,000.
India no.1 paddler Harmeet Desai and no.2 Manav Thakkar were retained by their teams Multimet Marvels and Shyamal Squad respectively. State’s prolific paddler Chitrax Bhatt was retained by Topnotch Achievers while women’s state no.1 Filzahfatema Kadri was retained by her team Tapti Tigers (defending champions).
Top Gujarat paddlers Oisikhi Joardar was sold to Multimet Marvels and Radhapriya Goel went to Kataria Kings.
GSTTA secretary, Kushal Sangtani said: “All the teams are well balanced and one can not pick a winner yet. We will witness a close contest for the trophy.”
