GSTTA is one of the most active among all Sports Association in the State. Gujarat teams are represented through GSTTA in all the major National Championships organized by TTFI.

In 1998, a new Body was elected under the able guidance and leadership of Shri Vipul Mittra, IAS. Since then, the headquarters have been located at Gandhidham (Kutch). Currently, the GSTTA is headed by President-Shri Vipul Mittra, IAS, Chairman- Shri Milind Torawane, IAS and Hon. Secretary- Shri Kushal Haresh Sangtani. (Click here for a full list of office bearers of the GSTTA.)

During the golden era from 1998 till date, table tennis in the State has catapulted to dizzy heights. The State players in all categories have been performing exceedingly well at the Nationals and International circuit.

The TTFI has always looked upon GSTTA as one of its backbone for organizing various International and National Events. It is worth mentioning that Gujarat has excellent, infrastructure in a number of cities to host National and International events including hosting of Avadh 20th Commonwealth Table Tanis Championship -2015 and 30th Table Tennis Asian Cup – 2017. GSTTA has, in the past, hosted various National Championships like Junior and Youth, Cadet and Sub Junior and National Ranking Championships.

For enabling and encouraging the game of table tennis, District Associations were formed. With the passage of time, more District Associations were affiliated. Presently, the Gujarat State Table Tennis Association has affiliated 29 District Associations, which are functioning effectively and nurturing the game of table tennis at the grass-root level. The Association is constantly striving to affiliate more District Associations for promoting the game further. This is part of the GSTTA’s vision to unearth more talents for excelling at the National/International level. It is also striving to conduct more National and Prize Money Championships so as to provide the requisite exposure and give incentive to the players to perform even better.

The GSTTA also boasts of having in its fold 40 International Umpires and two Blue Badge Umpire. Also, GSTTA has Level-1 & Level-2 Coaches, who render their services regularly for coaching the State and District Teams.

Another milestone that the GSTTA has achieved was one of its affiliated units, viz., Kachchh District Table Tennis Association (KDTTA) has set up a state-of-the-art Sports Complex at Gandhidham, which was inaugurated on 16.1.2013 and the Cadet and Sub Junior National & Inter State Table Tennis Championship was the inaugural Championship at this Stadium. The Stadium houses 16 Table Tennis tables during the National Championship and has four Badminton Courts. Apart from the above, three Tennis synthetic courts have also been laid and a fully furnished GSTTA & KDTTA office to conduct day-to-day activities in the Stadium premises. In the Second Phase, the KDTTA set up a Skating Rink and Swimming Pool, which is a roaring success, and also plans to set up a full-fledged Gymnasium, Restaurant and 6 Room Accommodations. Consequent to the demise of Hon. Secretary, KDTTA & GSTTA -Shri Haresh Sangtani- the KDTTA, as a fitting tribute to the excellent services rendered by Shri Haresh Sangtani, renamed the Sports Complex as “Haresh Sangtani Sports Complex”.

The GSTTA’s achievements have been possible due to the unstinted support and guidance by the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and the Sports Authority of Gujarat (SAG).
